Premier Homes is about to celebrate 20 years in the home building business and one of the things owner Jason Britt likes to focus on is finding communities that are attracting a diverse home buyer. Although Premier Homes is based out of Granbury, Texas we have built homes all over the greater Fort Worth area including Weatherford, Aledo, Fort Worth and of course Godley, Texas.
Godley is a city in northwestern Johnson County, Texas. It is located on Texas State Highway 171, Farm Roads 2331 and 917. The population in Godley in 2018 was a mere 1,228 and has fluctuated throughout the years but has been in a steady incline since around the year 2000. The Chisholm Trail Parkway toll road that opened 5 years ago has sparked a surge in the Godley population since one of the exits is to Godley. This makes commuting easier for people who move to Godley and continue to work in other cities.
Godley was established in 1886 and named for R. B. Godley, a Cleburne lumber merchant who donated an 8-acre tract for a townsite and 20 acres of land as a right-of-way to the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway. In 1886 a railroad station was build and in 1888 they built the Godley Post Office. After visiting this post office a couple weeks ago I would say that it more than likely has not changed much besides technology. This lovely and quaint post office reminds you that Godley truly is a small town in Texas. If you are looking to grab a bite to eat there are several local restaurants in downtown Godley and of course Del Norte Tacos right off of Highway 171.
Premier Homes currently builds homes in 2 different subdivisions in Godley. We just finished building our last home in the Lonestar Estates subdivision.
The first subdivision Premier Homes is building homes in is Wildcat Ridge. If you are looking to buy a home with land to roam then Wildcat Ridge is right up your alley. These homes in Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Wildcat Ridge are a minimum of 2,500 square feet and sit on a minimum of 1 acre of land. Phase 3 of Wildcat Ridge is now under development and will feature up to a half acre lot and smaller homes. There will be 178 lots in Phase 3 and a second entrance will added off of Farm Road 2331.
The second subdivision that Premier Homes is building in right now is Godley Heights. Godley Heights features homes that are great for young couples who are just starting out or for older couples who are looking to downsize. Godley Heights Subdivision is also much sought after for young families. This neighborhood is almost complete so if you are looking around the $250,000 range then this would be perfect for you. We offer 3 and 4 bedroom homes in this subdivision with many upgrades including granite throughout the home, wood looking tile, stainless appliances, wood burning stone fireplaces, spray foam insulation and spacious bedrooms.
Where are people moving from? Since I have worked at Premier Homes I have met with new homeowners that have come from Cleburne, Burleson, Fort Worth, Alvaredo, Colorado City, Denton, Stephenville and Austin. I always ask “Why Godley?” and the answer always seems to be “We love the small town atmosphere, the amazing people and the homes you build here are beautiful.” You cannot beat that answer.
Our family is also moving to Godley next summer and we cannot wait to call it our ‘Home’.
